*What is a chemical gas fire extinguishing agent?
Haloalkanes (1211, 1301), hydrofluorocarbons (heptafluoropropane, trifluoromethane, hexafluoropropane, , perfluorohexanone and other fire extinguishing agents are all synthetic fire extinguishing agents, usually called chemical gas fire extinguishing agents. In trade name or commercial name, they are also called：FM 200, HFC -227EA, HFC-236FA, R23，etc
*The advantages of chemical gas fire extinguishing agents:
1. The same protection object, less storage bottle usage:
Take a 100 square computer room (4m floor height) as an example, using heptafluoropropane, about 3 90L bottle sets (90KG), using IG541, about 14 90L bottle sets (15MPa).
The large number of bottle groups requires more storage space and also increases the daily operation and maintenance costs.
2. Low pressure level of storage bottle:
Current inert gas fire extinguishing devices mainly have pressure levels of 15MPa and 20MPa, and heptafluoropropane fire extinguishing devices are 1.6MPa, 2.5MPa, 4.2MPa, and 5.6MPa, which are lower than inert gas fire extinguishing systems.
3. Shorter extinguishing time:
Under normal circumstances, the discharge time of inert gas fire extinguishing systems is 60s, while the discharge time of fire extinguishing systems such as heptafluoropropane, trifluoromethane, hexafluoropropane, and perfluorohexanone does not exceed 10s.
4. More application forms:
Heptafluoropropane,namely HFC-227EA is suitable for suspended, cabinet-type devices and pipe network systems, and hexafluoropropane is suitable for suspended devices and portable fire extinguishers. However, inert gas fire extinguishing systems are usually only suitable for pipe network systems due to high storage pressure and many application bottles. This is the main reason for limiting the application of inert gas fire extinguishing systems.
